The following are letters written by middle school students in Mexico City.
Hi!!
I just want to tell you all that you have support. We know what you’re going through and it seems unfair to me that you have to go through it since you have rights. Mexico opens its doors to you and offers a helping hand so that you know that with every step, every sacrifice, every pain, exhaustion, every sunrise and every sunset you get closer to your dream of being free and being what you want to be.
I’m a 14 year old girl and I can’t do much, but this doesn’t mean that there will be no support; I just want to tell you that you are heroes. You are your own heroes. Please parents, take care of your children. They depend on you and I hope the sacrifice you are making is for the best, as you want it to be. I hope this trip will not be a bad memory but rather an experience you will be proud of. I hope you will be able to say, I came all the way here from Honduras, I made it, I resisted. And this makes you better people.
Yes we can! This is the moment to think of everyone, to live, to love, to run and I hope this gives you strength and hope. You can do anything as long as you believe you can.
I wish you health, love, hope and a lot of strength. I hope that although you’re going through this you will keep going strong together.
A big hug from a humble Mexican.

Be careful with Donald Trump. He wants you to STAY AWAY FROM HIS country. Be careful with Donald Trump. HE DOESN’T WANT YOU TO BE IN HIS COUNTRY. Show Donald Trump that you can do this and that you can continue on your path. [Be] careful [of] Donald Trump.
OK
YOU CAN DO IT

Hello,
I just want to tell you not to give up fighting for what you want, and wherever you go don’t give up. Have faith that you will be ok! Take care I wish you the best and I know that being in your place is not easy to be a MIGRANT. Don’t give up, fulfill your destiny be strong, take advantage of this moment to rise up and overcome. Not everyone has the same talents, but I know that you’re really good at something or rather you are excellent at something!!!
Never say Never
(Nunca digas Nunca)

Hello Honduran friend,
How is your trip going? I know that you are on a long and difficult journey, but what is happening in your country isn’t your fault. Even though you don’t know me I want to let you know that I’m trying to encourage you so that you can arrive safely at your destination. Some people and I are trying to offer you all help.
I think that at some point we all need help, and I hope that this card will be helpful in motivating you.
Remember, NOT ALL MEXICANS HAVE THE SAME MENTALITY.
Have a good trip, friend.

Dear Honduran brother or sister,
I hope everything goes well for you. I am an eighth-grade student wishing you the best. I know your country is going through a bad time, but I hope that everything gets better and that you remain standing. I hope you and your family arrive at your destination safely. You are just as worthy as anyone else. You can count on Mexico for what you need and to be treated really well here. I wish you the very best of luck.
WE ARE ALL EQUAL. SAY NO TO HUMILIATION.
Sincerely, Aketzalli
