REMOVAL OF THE MILITARY TROOPS!

THE AID FOR THE PEOPLE AND WORKERS MUST BE ORGANIZED!

The Curfew established in Concepcion has been extended to a great part of the VII Region. Curfews, ordered by the Military, have been enforced in Talca, Constitucion and Caunquenses from midnight to 6 in the morning. This is because there has been an increase in lootings and sackings in the regions previously mentioned and in Santiago’s poor communities, where there are hundreds of thousands of victims in this desperate situation. There still hasn’t been any food or supply distribution to the people in the regions of Maule and Bio-Bio, where they are literally dying of hunger. While there is an increase in desperation amongst the working population, the Armed Forces are increasing the use of repression against the people in response to the demands made by the business owners and the rightwing, whose only concerns are protecting their interests and maintaining “public order”. Military Troops out! End to the curfew and state of emergency!

The government is taking a completely reactionary policy that lashes out against the workers and poor. In a radio interview the Mayor of Haulpen, in the community of Bio-Bio, PPD , stated his clearly reactionary stand: “The regional authority is in over their heads, completely over their heads, the local governments can’t keep up with the demand, they have finished everything. Please, I’m begging, send the police reserve quickly! Please be tough, if you have to kill then do so, but it is already a state of chaos!”

While the rightwing calls for more repression, more curfews, more troops in the streets, the government gives them their demands, taking up the reactionary rightwing policy. While there is an increase in repression by the Armed Forces and Military, the government’s silence has turned into words. The Socialist Party has declared its support for the government’s policy- despite being a rightwing stance- showing its support for the business owners, which was emphasized during a press release: “the severe situation of public order is obligating the State to use force, which is a necessary means in order to guarantee the citizens’ security from all of the violence, vandalism, and those taking advantage of the catastrophe”. DOWN WITH THE CRIMINALIZATION OT THE WORKING CLASS!

The lootings are becoming more widespread and are threatening to turn into real social revolts. A WORKER AND PEOPLE’S SOLUTION TO THE SOCIAL CRISIS MUST BE ORGANIZED! The rightwing and the government’s solution is more repression. The lootings and the revolts are just and desperate reactions from people, who are without food or supplies. However, this will not be a means of putting an end to this social crisis, which is beating down the workers and poor. THE AID FOR THE PEOPLE AND WORKERS MUST BE ORGANIZED! There must be an immediate demand for the: REMOVAL OF TROOPS! The distribution of food and supplies must be directly organized by the worker and community organizations, the health and food unions and the student organizations! In order to achieve this, the supplies and food from the supermarkets and companies must be confiscated without compensation from the State. In some communities and neighborhoods the neighborhood groups along with workers are administrating the distribution: This example must be followed! This is the only way out of the social crisis that is affecting thousands of victims! Against the government and the rightwing and the business owners! The CUT should lead and coordinate this struggle.
