Capitalism is a death cult.

It is destroying the environment, hurling us towards climate catastrophe. It is responsible for the pandemic and the millions of deaths around the world. Capitalism makes profits by exploiting billions of workers around the world. It relies on the oppression of Black people, other people of color, immigrants, queer folks and women. It organized all of society around the profits of a few instead of the needs of the vast majority. And it forces the vast majority of us to spend all day in alienating and joyless labor.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. It is possible to fight capitalism and win. It is possible to overthrow capitalism and create socialism. In this introductory reading group, we invite folks who are interested in revolutionary socialism to come discuss the works of Karl Marx, Rosa Luxemburg, Alexandra Kollontai, CLR James and more.

This isn’t just a theoretical reading group. These readings are a plan to change the world. In that spirit, the space is welcoming to folks with little to no experience with Marxism or with theoretical texts, but who hope to learn, discuss and share experiences.
