International class struggle is on the rise, and France is no exception. Since 2016 the country has seen increasing radicalization among the working class and youth. This has shown up in dynamic struggles such as the “Gilet Jaune” or Yellow Vests movement as well as struggles against the racism of the far right and the regime of President Emmanuel Macron.

Despite this dynamic advance of workers and oppressed communities in France, the French Left has largely been in retreat. However, Left Voice’s comrades in France are building a force to revive the country’s revolutionary Left. Their interventions in the class struggle over the past year recently culminated in a 3-day congress to found a new revolutionary organization: Révolution Permanente.

In this episode, Left Voice member Sam Carliner talks to Antoine Ramboz, a member of Révolution Permanente, about the founding of a new revolutionary socialist organization in France. They discuss the current terrain of French politics, class struggle, and socialist organizing, and the lessons that building a new socialist organization can hold for leftists everywhere.

Faculty, Staff, and Students Must Unite Against Repression of the Palestine Movement

As Gaza solidarity encampments spread across the United States, faculty and staff are mobilizing in solidarity with their students against repression. We must build on that example and build a strong campaign for our right to protest.

Against the Criminalization of Opinion and in Defense of Our Right to Support Palestine: We Must Stand Up!

In France, the repression of Palestine supporters is escalating. A conference by La France Insoumise (LFI) has been banned; a union leader has been arrested and charged for speaking out for Palestine; court cases have increased against those who “condone terrorism”; and the state has stepped up its “anti-terrorism” efforts. In the face of all this, we must stand together.
