Black liberation struggles have always expressed solidarity with the struggle against the Zionist occupation of Palestine. This Black History Month, as Israel continues its genocide in Gaza, this tradition takes on a special importance.

In Louisville, where Breonna Taylor was murdered, police are repressing BLM protests by deeming them illegal. These restrictions are undemocratic and are a desperate act of the racist, capitalist state.

A social explosion has erupted in Chicago after police shot and injured 20 year old Latrell Allen in the city’s South Side. Over a hundred protesters have been arrested, while the cops sustained injuries of their own. In racist U.S.A., systemic, racist injustice continues to spawn upheaval.

In light of the protests demanding the defunding or the abolition of police, it is imperative that we recognize that local police and ICE are working hand in hand. ICE is detaining protesters and attempting to deport them. We need to abolish both ICE and the police.

We are in the midst of widespread uprisings against racist state violence, led by a vanguard of Black youth. With more and more young people pushing forward and leading social movements, working class  youth must ensure  our movements don’t fall away or be co-opted by the Democratic Party. We need to create a political party of our own, one that has the youth united with the working class to take the fight directly to the capitalist system.

With the current uprisings against police terror, it is imperative that we understand how to rid ourselves of state repression and achieve real abolition. The struggle requires an understanding of police violence as well as of capitalism.

The U.S. government has resolved to protect American research on Covid-19. By refusing to share research, the global effort to develop and distribute a vaccine is hampered. This will cause thousands, if not millions, of more deaths throughout the world. We demand an end to biomedical nationalism and demand medical research be shared across nations. 

Joe Biden called for justice for Ahmaud Arbery. But Joe Biden’s racist, imperialist political career has directly contributed to Arbery’s death. This blatant and disgusting display is nothing more than a cheap political tool. He doesn’t deserve to say Arbery’s name.

In the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, workers from all sectors around the world have been fighting back against the capitalist conditions that have worsened the situation. Workers in Italy have gone on general strike, Amazon employees have walked off the job, nurses have protested, and Whole Foods workers have staged mass sick-outs. These actions haven’t just been limited to the general population of working-class people; there have also been actions by incarcerated workers.
