After nearly five years of legal proceedings in Greece, the Athens Court of Appeals on Wednesday, October 7 found the leaders of the Greek neo-Nazi group Golden Dawn — including the group’s head Nikolaos Michaloliakos — guilty of belonging to and leading a criminal organization.

France Paralyzed by Largest General Strike in Decades

A general strike began in France today against President Emmanuel Macron’s sweeping pension reform. The strike has been called by unions representing railway and transport workers, hospital workers, teachers, firefighters, and students. The biggest of its kind in decades, the strike currently paralyzing France is expected to continue through the week.

Catalunya: A Letter to the Young People in Prison

As millions of people in Catalunya have taken to the streets to fight for the right to self-determination, many have been thrown in prison by the regime. The anticapitalist youth organization Contracorrent (Against the Current) sent this letter to the young political prisoners. “The best solidarity we can send is to continue the struggle to break the chains of this system.” 

350 at the Revolutionary Internationalist Summer Academy in Southern France

The European groups of the Trotskyist Fraction—Fourth International brought more than 350 people to France for the second Revolutionary Internationalist Summer Academy. In attendance were groups from France, the Spanish State, Germany, Italy, and other countries. They discussed the main events of the class struggle, political theory, strategy, and the challenges of the revolutionary left in Europe.
