Catalunya: A Letter to the Young People in Prison

As millions of people in Catalunya have taken to the streets to fight for the right to self-determination, many have been thrown in prison by the regime. The anticapitalist youth organization Contracorrent (Against the Current) sent this letter to the young political prisoners. “The best solidarity we can send is to continue the struggle to break the chains of this system.”

General Strike in Catalunya Against Long Prison Sentences for Independence Leaders

Earlier in the week, the Spanish Supreme Court sentenced leaders of the Catalan independence movement to unusually harsh prison sentences of up to 13 years. Hundreds of thousands of people have mobilized on the streets, shutting down freeways and the Barcelona airport and clashing with the police. They are now preparing for massive demonstrations and general strike that will paralyze Catalunya this Friday.
