Teachers Occupy Radio and TV Stations in Chiapas

There has been an ongoing teachers’ strike to fight against the recent education reform imposed by Mexican President Peña Nieto. The movement recently faced harsh repression and attempts by national and local governments to evict protesters who occupied city squares. This caused thousands to take the streets in Chiapas.

Oaxaca teachers resist government attacks

An executive order by the Governor of Oaxaca disbanded the State Public Education Institute of Oaxaca (IEEPO) as part of an effort to weaken teachers' protests. Teachers from Section 22 of the dissident CNTE (National Committee of Education Workers) have announced that they will fight back.
