Their Democracy and Ours

The "greatest democracy in the world" is in crisis. The U.S. Constitution, once treated as a kind of holy text, is now seen as it is: a document written by enslavers and large landowners to protect their privileges. Communists are often accused of being anti-democratic. But the opposite is the case: we call for a much more profound form of democracy than the United States or any capitalist country can possibly offer.

Amy Coney Barrett: Her Five Worst Decisions

RBG Is No Hero

Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death is seen by many as a blow to progressive politics. But that doesn’t mean her record on the Supreme Court is unequivocally praiseworthy. From racial justice to native sovereignty to prisoners’ rights, RBG’s rulings show a deep lack of care for the exploited and oppressed. Moreover, she was a member of an institution that has always been used as a tool against working class people.

An Election in Turmoil, a Regime in Decline

Lenin once said, “There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen." In recent US political life, every week has felt like a decade. The biggest imperialist power in the world is experiencing a crisis on multiple fronts, with Donald Trump playing a central destabilizing role. What does this mean for the 2020 election and the fight for socialism?

Trump’s SC Nominee: Every Bit as Anti-Choice as People Feared

The battle for the available seat in the Supreme Court after Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death has begun. The GOP supported Amy Coney Barret will be Trump's nominee. This Supreme Court pick strengthens the conservative agenda, and the  President believes that this will secure him the presidency in a contested election.

RBG or Not, Abolish the Supreme Court

Ruth Bader Ginsburg died on Friday night and sent millions into a panic about the future of reproductive and other civil rights. The fact that one unelected body has that much power is undemocratic to the highest degree. We must abolish the Supreme Court.

Class Struggle, Not Court Struggle: The Folly of “Voting for Supreme Court Justices”

Liberals are trying to shame the Left into voting for Biden and Harris by claiming that Trump will pack the Supreme Court with anti-abortion zealots who will overturn Roe v. Wade. While such a scenario is certainly possible, this harm reduction approach to voting transforms important political questions into legal and technical ones and ultimately weakens the power of the working class.
