From the Liga de Trabajadores por el Socialismo, we emphatically condemn the reactionary presidential decree, which attempts to liquidate Luz y Fuerza del Centro [Central Light and Power], and the military occupation of its installations by the PFP, and we call for getting mobilized and struggling to overthrow them.

With the “suppression” of the CLF, we are facing one of the toughest attacks against the electrical workers and the entire workers’ movement, an attack that preceded the possibility the SME would call a strike. Far from being a “law of the state,” it is a measure that prepares the complete surrender of the production and distribution of electric energy to the imperialist transnationals and their local partners, like Claudio X González. It has become obvious that was the aim of the violations that were perpetrated in recent weeks against union autonomy and union rights, as was the refusal to accept the confirmation of registration from the SME leadership.

This decree attempts to make the union disappear and keep thousands of workers in the street, just after the electrical workers carried out a great mobilization that put the workers’ power on the streets.

This offensive shows the pattern of what the government is trying to do to the workers and to the unions, by trampling on the most fundamental union and labor laws. Today it’s the SME, and tomorrow other organizations will be the ones that will suffer this anti-union offensive. That is why it is necessary that one shout alone be heard: An injury to one is an injury to all! Strike in solidarity to stop Calderón’s offensive, that is attacking the SME today, and tomorrow will hit other unions!

There is no room for halfhearted measures, nor for stopping at mere declarations. We must urgently promote mobilization and solidarity with the SME workers, against the liquidation of Luz y Fuerza, to demolish Calderón’s reactionary decree. Workers’, social, students’, democratic and political organizations, as well as the thousands of people that mobilized in the defense of the oil, have to join the actions of struggle that the comrade electricians will carry out.

It is urgent that the UNT, the CNTE and the rest of the unions must now call a NATIONAL STRIKE in solidarity with the SME and against Calderón’s decree.

AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL!

STRIKE NOW IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE SME AND AGAINST THE LIQUIDATION OF LUZ Y FUERZA
