We, the Black Power Collective of the Inland Empire, are extending solidarity and love to the workers of the Amazon warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama. We know that fighting for worker’s rights is a long time tradition of Southern workers, and Black Southern workers in particular. What you are doing epitomizes what Black power actually is: coming together to fight the corporations that exploit workers while the higher-ups get more and more profit.

The area that we represent, the Inland Empire, is a densely populated area about 70 miles east of Los Angeles. It is largely working class, and there are many Amazon warehouses here. The workers here need unionization, and we are hoping that they will be inspired by what you are doing. Your brave actions are already getting people talking, and increasing awareness for the need of workers to fight for what is rightly theirs. What you are doing in Bessemer should lead to similar actions here and abroad.

It is well past time for workers to rise up and fight the capitalist systems that exploit us. We could not be more proud that this is happening in a predominantly Black town. American historians try to ignore the fact that Black folks have always risen up against our oppressors, but your actions help keep our true history or resistance alive.

Thank you for what you are doing. We applaud your courage, we are inspired by you, and we raise our fists in solidarity. All power to the people, and all power to the workers of Bessemer, the I.E. and the world! May your actions be the spark of a worldwide movement for worker’s rights and worker control!

-The Black Power Collective

If your union, collective or caucus has a solidarity statement with the Amazon unionization effort, we would love to publish it. Please send to [email protected]
