On Saturday, tens of thousands took to the streets in the 39th annual LGBT Pride March in Mexico City. This was not a corporate pride like New York City’s and it did not ignore the harsh reality of LGBT Mexicans. Rather, it was both festive and a protest.

The official statement said that the march was demanding justice for LGBT people who “have been murdered and for the families who suffer discrimination, for those who are not yet free to come out of the closet and give name to their desires. We cannot call ourselves free nor satisfied.”

Protesters chanted, “No, no, no es un hecho aislado. Los crímenes de odio son crímenes de Estado” (No, it is not an isolated incident. Hate crimes are state crimes) and “Aplaudan, aplaudan no dejen de aplaudir que la homofobia se tiene que morir” (Clap, clap, don’t stop clapping beacuse homophobia must die).

Berlin Police Attack an Anti-Imperialist Feminist Demonstration on March 8

On International Women's Day, there were numerous demonstrations in Berlin, including: a union demonstration, an anti-imperialist demonstration, and a supposedly "leftist" demonstration in solidarity with Israel. As you would expect, police only attacked one of the three.

Rise in Forced Pregnancies Shows the Need for an Independent Movement for Abortion Rights

Post-Dobbs, research shows that many people in states where abortions are banned have been unable to get them. We need a movement to fight for free, safe, legal abortion on demand.

Unite the Encampments Against Repression and for a Free Palestine

Student encampments in solidarity with Gaza are cropping up across the country and are facing intense repression by police acting on behalf of university officials. Defending the occupations requires uniting outrage with these attacks on the right to protest with broad support for Palestine across the student movement and the labor movement.
